Aluminium ingots with a weight of 35 kg per piece need to be fed into a melting kiln. The ingots are
provided in batches. Shape and dimensions of the ingots can vary. Also orientation and position are undefined.
The task is implemented with a robot. The robot is equipped with a gripper, developed especially for that
purpose, and an image cognition camera system.
The system operates two stack tables. The recognition of an empty stack table and the change between the
tables takes place automatically. The feeding is directly requested by the control of the melting kiln.
The robot locates the next ingot in the stack, determines its position and orientation, grabs it and feeds
it to the kiln.
